Google’s stock market index closed at 3,716.15.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 2,961.70, the S&P 500 closed at 1,925.40 and the Nasdaq Composite closed at 821.45.
Google’s market cap rose to $26.2 trillion, a 2.9% increase from the year before.
Google shares rose 1.6% to $36.79 in afternoon trading.
The stock gained 5.5% in after-hours trading on Monday.
The benchmark S&p 500 rose 1%.
Apple shares climbed 5.1% to 2,971.90 after Apple said its quarterly profit rose more than expected, adding to a strong rebound after a lackluster quarter in the first half of 2016.
Shares of Facebook rose 2.3% to close at $5,079.50 after the social network said it would pay $1 billion in back taxes and other charges.
Shares in the health-care company Aetna gained 1.7% to trade at $23.70.
Shares on the biotech giant Monsanto rose 1% to 5,943.35 after the company said its genetically modified seed prices were stable and the company will begin selling its corn-based corn meal.
